Apprenticeship Takes Place on the Job

MEI has an established code of professional standards that employees are expected to know and practice. They receive instruction in courtesy; communication; pride in personal appearance; interaction with managers, co-workers and members of other trade groups; attention to detail and satisfaction in a job well done.

In terms of job skills, apprenticeship training is provided on-the-job, usually by a mentor, and in the classroom where employees seeking advancement can study to be project managers and supervisors. If MEI employees will be working with a special system, such as fire alarm, teledata or fiber optics, they receive training exclusive to that system. When MEI purchases a new product, process, or piece of equipment, a manufacturer's representative comes on site to give instruction in its use.
